About the Ministry of Saving Hope Refuge
Activities - January -February 2024
The means to meet these expenditures was obtained simply asking God to work in the hearts of His stewards to help us.
One of the reasons for the establishment of Saving Hope Refuge was:
That it might be seen to the glory of God,
Of how much can be accomplished through the instruments of prayer and matter;
To give witness to the believer of the faithfulness of God and
To the unbeliever to seek God while He may be found.
Opening : Mission and Vision review
Saving Hope Refuge has a mission of Providing a safe place to help individuals and families find deliverance from trauma, to teach leaders about trauma, and to help strengthen the community through inreach and outreach opportunities!
The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; (Isaiah 61:1 KJV)
To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; (Isaiah 61:2 KJV)
To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified. (Isaiah 61:3 KJV)
Safe to Hope, DBA Saving Hope Refuge, was formed in 2016. Our board members are Steve Barreira (Vice President), Don Inman (Treasurer) and Penny Kievet (Secretary).
Special Blessings:
Although few donations are sent by postal mail, we still receive those, and they are encouraging that there are those still sowing seed into the lives of others! Thankful for the new donor!
Electronically, we get donations monthly from a few faithful individuals who keep the spark to keep the light going to the community! Thank you for many years of support!
Answers to Prayer:
Liron Segev with Security for Creators (https://securityforcreators.com), donated a HP laptop that replaced a 2014 model that finally quit. So thankful, and this charity reflects the care that God provides from a stranger, known only by his online presence, and his team (thanks, Alex) taking the time and effort to help in a meaningful way.
Designated Donations Update
In 2023, a grant was received from Clay Electric, and a check of $3,000 was received to God’s glory, for the purchase of materials and marketing supplies for survivors and to give to the community.
As survivors are encountered, these are being shared and mailed, with positive feedback. Keep an eye out for outreach events and come get a keychain to help “Blow the Whistle on Trauma and Abuse.” Thanks to Storm Whistles for their help with pricing to get more into the hands of trauma survivors!
Report of Operations
2024 has come, and donation receipts have been sent out. If you donated via Facebook, we don’t get your donations directly, so your receipts come from Facebook directly.
In October, we were able to attend the national Faith and Blue dinner with Sheriff Gator Deloach and his professional staff and deputies. This was a great time to meet likeminded organizations and connect with the organizations that interact with trauma survivors daily.
In November, we were able to assist the Rodeheaver Boy’s Ranch with their winter fundraiser festival, and learn some operational and safety precepts working with the then Interim-Director Ken Johnson and his great staff, about the logistics of putting on a event. Lord willing, Saving Hope Refuge will be able to host the public and have a great impact of the community of South Putnam and the NE/Central Florida Region!
Outreach
2024 has a shifted focus. The Farmer’s Market we had been attending in 2023, changed its format, so that is not a regular presence to the community. However, when we were able to go on a monthly basis, we were able to pray for many and give out the Gospel and materials for trauma survivors, including the “Breaking the Bondage” by Evangelist Mike Keller.
We have had the opportunity to minister to several individuals in the Putnam community. It takes prayer and time to flush out the wounds of the past and allow God to work and minister, so the painful, sensitive emotional wound becomes a durable scar that doesn’t eliminate the past but allows people to build a bridge to the future.
As we reach out to others, we are learning and growing ourselves! No one’s trauma is the same, but pain can be felt and shared. Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep. (Romans 12:15 KJV)
In the last 30 days, there were 279 people who visited the Facebook profile. There are thousands of people throughout the year reaching out and looking for HOPE!
Farm Status
There is new life at the farm. Walking the trails and fire breaks reveals new growth and reminds me of the opportunity for those who have been abandoned, as this farm was can experience new growth with some careful discipleship and healing to address their trauma!
The Florida Forest Service has helped plow fire breaks and can hopefully fit the property into the schedule to mitigate the overgrowth with a prescribed burn soon. This will help the natural pines thrive and attract wildlife to the property for visitors to enjoy!
Ducks were donated to the farm use and purpose in 2023, we those are being maintained at our home until we can get water (ducks need lots of water) can be regularly obtained there. They will find lots of great bugs and other natural foods on the property there!
We are thankful for our neighbors who help mow and also keep an eye out on the property.
Donations
During this period, $254.66 was received, to God’s glory.
Operations
The website will be redeveloped, and materials are being developed that survivors of trauma can use and download privately to start a journey to healing!
As this journey moves forward, we are meeting more and more like minded individuals who work with trauma, as well as farms who also want to help others. While there are large organizations, it really does take local non-profits to “each one reach one.”
Specific Objectives, Results, Reports, Matters of Prayer
Pay off the mortgage by May 9. This will free the ministry to build on a great site and make it safe for the community to enjoy and heal.
Revitalize the well. Vandals have taken the pump and other metal that could be scrapped. A well with electricity can make the farm a place to have facilities for the public and a source of water for farm animals and other operations.
Planning to have a great outreach at the Homesteading and Prepping Summit in April. Will you visit us at the event?
If you have any testimony about healing or blessing from the ministry or material you have received, please share it, and even shared here (anonymously) to encourage those who are hiding their wounds!
Conclusion - Highlights
Being in the community professionally, individually, spiritually, and as a neighbor, many people don’t or won’t share their pain. Maybe they won’t take the first step and forgive. As there is more and more information about trauma, and maybe even that word being overused, there is no lack of it, and more information will not solve that problem…
Just as it will take miracles to keep Saving Hope Refuge moving forward as a teeny-tiny non-profit, helping one at a time, it will take miracles for you to heal, one emotion at a time. You have to first put a name to the feeling, wound, or emotion that is triggering and keeping the wound alive and from healing.
We look forward to meeting you in the community or hearing from you via social media.
Don’t feel pressured to subscribe to a paid subscription…Substack just has a model that is used by many to help the writers continue writing.
The only voice you need to hear is not of the tormentors, but of Jesus…we can help you pray and go to Him for healing if you don’t know how to pray or ask God to help you. That is what we have been called to do.
And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; (2 Corinthians 5:18 KJV)
